Clinical Psychologist

Excellent job opening for Clinical Psychologist to work with one of the UK’s leading provider of independent specialist secure and step-down services for people with mental illness, personality disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and brain injuries.

The successful candidate will be offered an excellent salary of £35,000 to £40,000 (Band 7) per annum plus other great benefits(listed below).

Our Clinical Psychologist role involves:

• Being responsible for providing a specialist clinical psychology service within the area of eating disorders, in accordance with objectives agreed with Professional and Service managers
• Formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a patient’s psychological needs, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the patient’s problems
• Being responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for children, parents/carers, families and groups
• Assessing and evaluating information from the child, family and significant others, multi-disciplinary medical team and external agencies relating to medical condition and developmental status and incorporate this information into a clinical formulation
Teaching, Training and Supervision:
• To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a more senior Clinical Psychologist in accordance with good practice guidelines. In addition, consultation from other senior professional colleagues may be appropriate
• To continue to gain wider post-qualification experience (CPD) of clinical psychology over and above that provided within the principal service area where the post holder is employed
• To provide advice, consultation and training to staff working with the client group as and where appropriate
Research and Service Evaluation:
• To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members
• To undertake evidence-based clinical research and provide research advice to other staff undertaking research in agreement with and in collaboration with clinical/research team
• To undertake project management, including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within the service to help develop service provision
General
• To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder’s professional and service manager(s)
• To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology across the service, by continuing to develop the skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of clinical psychology and related disciplines. To participate in peer review, clinical and professional audit and quality assurance initiatives
Qualifications/Experience
To be successful as a Clinical Psychologist, you’ll need:
Qualifications
• Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society (essential)
• Eligible for registration as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (desirable)
• Registered with the Health Professions Council (essential)
Skills and Experience
• Experience of specialist psychological and psychometric assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including community, primary care, outpatient and inpatient settings (essential)
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity (essential)
• Experience of working with the adolescent/young age range (desirable)
• A strong interest in the mental health of young people and their families (essential)
• Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management (essential)
